Contributory Parent (Temporary) Visa (Subclass 173)

 

This is a temporary visa which allows parents of an Australian citizen, permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen to travel and live in Australia for up to two years. Visa holder for Subclass 173 can apply separately for a permanent Contributory Parent Visa (Subclass 143) to stay in Australia permanently with their child.

 

The visa applicant might be able to get this visa if:

  • sponsored by their child

  • meet the balance-of-family test that set by the Department of Home Affairs

  • The visa applicant willing to pay a higher visa application charges for a faster processing approval.

 

Contributory Parent Visa (Subclass 143)
 

This is a permanent visa which allows parents of an Australian citizen, permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen live in Australia.

The visa applicant might be able to get this visa if:

  • sponsored by their child

  • meet the balance-of-family test that set by the Department of Home Affairs

  • as a temporary Contributory Parent Visa (subclass 173) visa holder

  • The visa applicant willing to pay a higher visa application charges for a faster processing approval.

 

Parent Visa (Subclass 103)

 

This is a permanent parent visa which allows offshore parents to live in Australia if their child is an Australian citizen, permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen who is settled in Australia.

 

The visa sponsor needs to have lived lawfully in Australia for the two ears immediately before the visa application. This visa subclass has the longest waiting times among others Family visa subclasses before this visa is approved by the Department of Home Affairs. The waiting times or processing time is up to 30 years.
